New Faceup

I have definately improved since the first one I did way back when. That was what? Year 2006 perhaps?
Sometime around then at least.

Yusuke is looking adorable as usual (ah, the joys of fixed resin features), and sporting his blond wig from Dollmore. I slightly darkened his eyebrows from his last face up, and his makeup is darker this time too. I also gave him less eyelashes and less pinky lips in an attempt to make him somewhat more masculine (which hasn't worked one bit and he he looking more like a pretty girl than ever).

Now I need to get on finishing Luke and Armand, who have been sitting forgotten for far too long, the poor things. All Armand really need though is his freckles, which somehow I managed to forget the first time, leaving him looking very unfinished, and me unable to determine why. Luke is just eyeless on one side still, but I am considering redoing hi whole face... just need to find out how to remove paint off the vinyl dollfie heads... HMMMMMM.

Re-living my childhood?

No, not reliving, but experiencing something I never got to experience as a child— a cute Barbie with brown hair. Sure, when I was a kid there was Teresa, but she was like Barbie's less fashionable friend. She always had the orange outfit or something.

Anyways, I finally caved in and bought the doll, she's one of the Basic series which are all awesomely cute, even if they only have five points of articulation. I haven't bought a Barbie in years... YEARS. The last time I had a new one was when I was twelve, right before (maybe the same year) my discovery of BJDs. They were quickly forgotten and cast aside to little sisters.

However, the buying of the Barbie, and my recent Volks purchase has brought something to my attention... I need a new camera lens. Mine just doesn't cut it with these smaller dolls, especially since it barely works with Yusuke and Armand (the Unoa). But urrrrrrrrrrg... just thinking about buying a macro lens makes my hair curl, as every time I've looked into them they tend to run rather high money-wise.

I am kicking myself...

I am mentally kicking myself... over and over and over again.

On Friday I was browsing doll pics and once again came across Volks Shinsiya. This was the first doll I ever considered getting, the first one I ever planned on getting, and I DO NOT have it today. Why I ask myself? Because I have never liked Volks msd bodies, so I never bought one (why did I not think of buying the doll and then selling the body?)

So, now I am SERIOUSLY wanting this mold again. A mold which is now discontinued and rare, as it was never really popular in the first place, at least not in North America. There are barely any known ones on DoA... none currently for sale... and very little hope of me actually finding one. The only light at the end of this tunnel is that they can go for cheap depending on the seller, but that's only if I actually find a seller.

All this leaves me wondering why now? After all these years, why do I NEED this doll? I obviously didn't need it enough to buy it back then. It doesn't fit into the current aesthetic I like, or physically fit with any of my dolls. So why? Hmmm...

I want it because it's hard to get that's why. Like Yusuke was... *headtowall*

New Doll Blog!

So this will most definitely be a 'doll blog', something which I have been meaning to make for quite some time. Right now I'm fooling around with the html of the layout, making it all spiff. I'm slowly finding which part is which, but auuuugh! html give me a headache! D;

I need to make a header as well aaaaand maybe a matching signature icon? Something spiff to use on the forums.

OH MAH GAWD, a doll blog.
